West Orange Sesquicentennial Anniversary Deployments - June 29, July 1, July 4, 2012

As part of a week of 150th Anniversary celebrations in West Orange, West Orange C.E.R.T. was deployed at 3 events in town.

6 C.E.R.T. members were deployed for the Downtown Music and Food Festival at Colgate Park, Friday, June 29th. The members worked with the Police Department and First Aid Squad to help provide safety watch, particularly keeping an eye out for heat related medical issues.

C.E.R.T. members were deployed at the Zerbini Circus at West Orange High School, Sunday, July 1st. The members worked with the Police and Fire Departments to provide safety watch inside and outside the circus tent as well as ensuring that the fire lane remained clear.

C.E.R.T. members were deployed to the 4th of July celebration at West Orange High School, Wednesday July 4th. For the first half of the deployment the members worked with West Orange Office of Emergency Management to keep the area around the fireworks clear as they were being set up. In the second half of the deployment members continued to keep the fireworks area clear, while also helping the Police Department and First Aid Squad with safety watch, again primarily being on the lookout for heat related medical issues. During the fireworks display, members were tasked with assisting the Fire Department with fire watch to help keep the area around the launch zone safe.
