CERT members were activated to staff two cooling centers in West Orange, one at Town Hall and one at the John P. Renna, Jr. House, which provides senior housing and is home to the West Orange Health Center. The cooling stations were open from 10am to 8pm, providing air conditioned seating and ice water for anyone needing relief from the heat. Throughout the day we had 8 CERT members working in the cooling stations, allowing the Town to use no professional responders to provide this valuable service to the community on a day when temperatures approached 100 degrees.
